Patrick, you should do a book with all these Substack posts. They are so well done!

Super! I do wonder what it is like to be the one with all the access, and then on Jan 20, every four years, you are just another photographer with, or without press credentials. Must be a bit of a ride......

It didn't use to be that way, that's why Abbie Rowe was a White House photographer 25+ years. Photographers were "holdover" positions - until someone made the President mad. Google Cecil Stoughton and Nixon.

I remember Abbie Rowe. I have a fun image from the Nixon era of Diane Sawyer and Nixon, which I really like, but it is a Harry Benson photograph, and I am pretty sure he was not in office any longer when this was taken. I think Diane Sawyer worked in the press office or something under Nixon?

I shall do that. I looked for all of 3 mintutes, mostly out of respect for photographers everywhere, but have you noticed that there are no photographer's credits on the new President/VP photographs? Is that odd?

Utterly fascinating, Patrick!

I'm working my way down the alphabet of photographers on Substack thanks to Ronald Smeets and found you and your work.

I didn't even have to think about subscribing, it was an instinctive action.

Little did I know that I probably could have found you IN PERSON even faster by coming down from Owasso and strolling Tulsa.

btw, I agree with Alicia, this definitely needs to be a book!
